No! Unlike other FINRA exams, you can take the SIE without being sponsored by a broker-dealer. This makes it a great first step into finance.
How many questions are on the SIE?
The SIE exam has 75 scored questions with a 1 hour 45 minute time limit. You need a 70% to pass.
What comes after the SIE?
After passing the SIE, you'll need to pass a representative-level exam (like Series 7, 6, or 79) to become fully licensed. These require firm sponsorship.
